Policies and Procedures
Enrollment/Payment
Miss Jaspers’ House corresponds with the school year and runs September through May.
A $75 activity fee is due per family at the time of registration. Receipts will be available for all payments, which must be made in the form of cash or a personal check written to Miss Jaspers' House or Aleta Lindell.
Each child will attend once a week. The cost is $25 a week. This fee is due prior to each month because it covers all supplies, activities, transportation, and general operating costs for the month. An accumulating fund will be established to cover months that have additional field trips or supply needs. If payment for the month has not been received on time, a $20 late fee will be added each day your child is in the program. Failure to pay all these charges will result in your child’s disenrollment until the entire balance is paid in full.
The program is designed for elementary students in kindergarten through sixth grade. Children will be organized into same-age or multi-level groups of six to eight people. The program will run from 3:00pm to 5:30pm. Aleta Lindell will pick up the group for the day from school and transport them by van to Miss Jaspers’ House. Parents must pick up their children at Miss Jaspers’ House at 5:30pm. Parents/guardians will be charged a late fee of $10 for every fifteen minutes a child is at Miss Jaspers’ House after 5:45pm.
Parental Involvement
Parents are welcome to attend the program with their children at any time. A newsletter will be published to keep parents informed of program activities.
Absence
If your child is absent on his or her program day you will still be required to pay for that day to hold the space for your child. Your child may be able to attend the program with a different group that week if space is available.
If Aleta Lindell must be absent for any reason, you will be notified that the program will not run that day and you will not be charged.
Snow Days
If school is called off or dismissed early due to inclement weather, Miss Jaspers’ House will also be cancelled that day. That day’s group of children may be rescheduled.
Health
Current immunization records must be submitted and kept on file. If a child becomes ill during the program, parents/guardians will be contacted and required to find alternative care for the child. Any cases of contagious diseases (pink eye, ringworm, impetigo, chicken pox, strep throat, head lice, etc.) will be reported to the Department of Health.
In the event of a medical emergency, parents/guardians will be contacted. If no contact can be made, extended persons as specified by the parents will be contacted, then the child’s physician, then 911 if necessary. All medical expenses are the responsibility of the parents/guardians.
Medications will only be administered with written consent and instructions from the parent or guardian.
Confidentiality
All records and information relating to children and their families attending Miss Jaspers’ House will be kept in strict confidentiality at all times and will only be released as required by law or pursuant to a medical emergency.
Discipline
Expectations will be clearly stated and positively reinforced or redirected. Peers will not be allowed to discipline each other. All discipline will be conducted in a respectful way that supports the positive development of the whole child. If a child becomes destructive or imposes safety risks to other children, parents/guardians will be notified. If a workable solution cannot be established the child will be dismissed from the program.
Field Trips
Aleta Lindell will supervise all trips, transport child by van, and supply detailed information prior to the event.
Transportation
Children will be transported from school and on field trips by van. Children must use proper child restraint systems.
Fire and Disaster Drills
A written evacuation plan is posted. A minimum of four fire drills and one tornado drill will be conducted and documented annually.
Child Abuse
It is required by law that any witnessed or suspected child abuse or neglect be reported to the Department of Social Services or law enforcement.
City Registration
Miss Jaspers’ House is in compliance with all city child care registration policies including first aid and CPR training and certification.
